Summer Term 2022
Join CYT Seniors and Company this Summer Term for a fun 10 week project working with some brilliant professional theatre-makers to increase confidence, express ideas, collaborate with other young people and explore theatre skills such as comedy, script-writing, developing characters and creating your own theatre.
We are delighted to welcome Shirley Halse as Director and Shannon Presley as Assistant Director for this project.
Summer Term will conclude with a performance sharing on Sunday 17th July at Cleeve School!
We pride ourselves on getting to know each young person individually, to nurture their ideas, passions and talents. This is what makes our sessions so safe and our shows so vibrant and original.
Shirley Halse is a comedian, writer and creator of The Alternative Book Club comedy night and podcast.
She regularly performs stand up in Cheltenham and across the South West and has taken shows (The Reduced Literature Degree, Poetry 101, Shakespeare 101, The Alternative Book Club) on tour across the UK, including Camden Fringe, Stratford Literature Festival and the Cheltenham Literature Festival.
We are so excited to have Shirley working with CYT Company and Seniors this season to weave her special brand of comedic magic and create a brand new piece of theatre!
Shannon Presley is a professional actor and studied Performing Arts BA(Hons) at the University of Gloucestershire. She has performed in numerous theatre productions across the region as well as facilitating confidence building workshops for UoG students with Smash the Glass Theatre Company.
When she isn't acting, Shannon is busy creating stunning polymer clay jewellery for her own business, Daisy Willow Creates.
Shannon loves singing, dancing and cups of tea and we are thrilled to be welcoming her into the CYT family this year!

This year, we are delighted to offer CYT members the opportunity to gain a nationally recognised qualification through Arts Award.
Arts Award is accredited through Trinity College London in partnership with Arts Council England and is within the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ). We will be launching the Bronze level this year and hope to deliver Silver and Gold (equivalent to an A Level) in future years to come.
To achieve their Bronze Arts Award, learners take on challenges in an art form, participate in arts activities, experience arts events, get inspired by artists and share their arts skills with others. They create a portfolio to keep a record of their creative work and progress along the way, and they are supported by a trained Arts Award adviser who acts as an assessor, facilitator and mentor.
You can find out more about Arts Award here!
